Paul Schattauer, M.D.
Dr. Schattauer went to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and received his BA graduating with Magna Cum Laude Honors. In 1982 he received his masters at the Yale University Divinity School in Connecticut. His MD was attained from the University of Iowa in 1983. He did his residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee from 1984 to 1987. He joined Homefirst in 1987 and became a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice in 1990. “At Homefirst, I have found the family practice aspects of medicine that I was looking for,” Dr. Schattauer says. His goal in practicing medicine is to listen carefully to patients and help them come to realize that the power to regain and maintain health lies within themselves. He is very happy to interact with Homefirst patients. “The patients give us an opportunity to develop what family doctors used to have; a trusting and mutually respectful relationship with patients. These are patients who are taking responsibility for their own health and well-being.”
Peter S. L. Rosi, M.D.
Dr. Rosi majored in history at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and received his BA in 1957. He received his MD degree from the University of Chicago in 1961. He did internships and residencies at: Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit in 1961-1962, University of Cincinnati in 1962-1963 and Northwestern University from 1963-1968. Dr. Rosi worked in family practice and obstetrics in Alaska from 1972 to 1981. “When I met Mayer Eisenstein in 1982, we discovered that, independently, we had come to very similar understandings of natural childbirth. We have happily and fruitfully collaborated on this mission in the more than 20 years since.”
Delivery of life-affirming, Hippocratic, scientific medical care and guidance is his goal. This is based upon the exercising of a loving relationship with each person encountered as directed by God.
Teresa Wanczyk, D.O.
Dr. Wanczyk is a 1980 graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, now a part of Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Il. A rotating internship at the Chicago Osteopathic and Olympia Fields Medical Centers was followed by a Pediatric Residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. She is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Dr. Wanczyk was raised in Western Massachusetts where she participated in the family’s livelihood at its inception, now Wanczyk’s Evergreen Nursery. After receiving a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Massachusetts in 1972 and a Massachusetts Teacher’s Certificate in 1973, she taught 9th grade biology in the Hingham school system. A master’s degree was earned in Food Science & Nutrition at the University of Massachusetts in 1977. In private practice for twenty years, Dr. Wanczyk joined Homefirst in June 2006 to expand the services of her specialty and has been delighted to care for people of all ages applying Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment where ever appropriate. She is especially interested in helping mothers to nurse their baby, approaching the baby and improving the ability to suck and swallow through gentle Osteopathic Treatment of the baby. Dr. Wanczyk took her first course in cranial Osteopathy where Dr. Fulford was teaching in 1977.
Arina Chapman, D.O.
Dr. Chapman is a graduate of Wheaton College with a BS in Chemistry. She completed her medical studies at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine with a Family Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Chapman’s says “my view of medicine has been in part shaped by my osteopathic education which emphasizes the wholeness of the body and the bodies intrinsic ability to restore itself, in part by conventional medicine, where I learned the scientific approach, and by my faith which prompts me to look in humility to our Creator God and stand in awe of his marvelous design of our human bodies. I have a particular interest in musculoskeletal dysfunctions and practice osteopathic manipulative medicine.”
